As the narrative began to develop the primary source I needed next was from someone in football, ideally a club, whose side had been drastically impacted by the pandemic.
Step forward Poole Town, their season was halted in March and scrapped entirely. However, there is a unique story to Poole that caught my attention and should have gained more media attention than it did. Due to the financial constraints, Poole had an offer from their stadium sponsor, Blackgold, to bump up their sponsorship. However part of the deal was to rebrand their Red and White kit to their company colours of black and gold.
This saved the club and was a decision taken by everyone working at the club and the fans. In normal time this would no doubt get a bad reception but as a sign of the changing times, it was well-received by virtually the whole fanbase. So I sat down to talk to their chairman, Chris Reeves, about the sponsoring of the kit, financial times in Covid, becoming Covid safe and how the future looks at Poole Town and within football from the view of not only a chairman but a member of the FA board for Non-League.
You can check out the full unedited interview below - split in two due to uploading constraints.
